YYZ Academy, BSID# 884369, is a private online secondary school that offers students worldwide the opportunity to receive an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
YYZ Academy offers grade 9 to grade 12 Ontario high school courses. Students can take all courses online. YYZ is a Ministry inspected school that offers credits upon completion of course; these credits are then transferred to student's home school or YYZ if this is your home school. YYZ can also be a home school regardless of whether you live in Canada or not. Your Ontario School Record (OSR) will be securely stored within our Toronto offices. To support your unique learning styles, we also offer online tutoring to help and support students to better understanding course material.
YYZ Academy (YYZ) can organize the test administration for students whose Ontario Student Record (OSR) is held at YYZ. The test can be written at the YYZ office in Toronto, Ontario, where students will be supervised by an YYZ staff member. Students may also write the test at an alternative location if they make special arrangements as specified by the Ontario Ministry of Education. The test must be supervised by a suitable official who satisfies the requirements outlined by EQAO.

Students, worldwide, have access to enrol in courses 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Once all supporting documents have been received and vetted, access to the course will be granted to the students. Once registered, the self-directed model will allow students to complete courses at their pace, giving students the flexibility to fit their respective schedules. The term accommodations is used to refer to the special teaching and assessment strategies, human supports, and/or individualized equipment required to enable a student to learn and to demonstrate learning. Accommodations do not alter the provincial curriculum expectations for the grade. Accommodated only is the term used on the IEP form to identify subjects or courses from the Ontario curriculum in which the student requires accommodations alone in order to work towards
• a written plan describing the special education program and/or services required by a particular student, based on a thorough assessment of the student’s strengths and needs – that is, the strengths and needs that affect the student’s ability to learn and to demonstrate learning; • a record of the particular accommodations needed to help the student achieve his or her learning expectations, given the student’s identified learning strengths and needs
English language learners are students whose first language is a language other than English or is a variety of English that is significantly different from the variety used for instruction in Ontario’s schools, and who may require focused educational supports to assist them in attaining proficiency in English.
Culminating exams will be closed book in nature. To maintain academic integrity, a proctor will be assigned to the student. A proctor ensures that all examination rules and procedures are maintained. The date, time, place, and proctor for a student’s final exam are selected by the student but must be approved by the YYZ Examination Officer. Proctors can be: 1. An approved in-person individual that oversees the exam or 2. A service that oversees the exam such as Examity.

There is a direct correlation between student success and attendance. It is easy to drift from your responsibilities as a student, knowing this, we have implemented procedures for you to follow. These policies will be strictly reinforced with all students. Students are expected to: 1. Complete their course content within ten months 2. Log-in to the website at minimum three times a week 3. Failing to do so will result in an absence (A) on the official report card
Students are expected to be actively engaged throughout their course. Failing to log-in for 59 days will result in the student's online account to be suspended. Once suspended, a Pyramid of Intervention will be enacted to reinstate the student. This Pyramid may consist of: 1. Teacher Intervention 2. Principal Intervention and 3. If 18 years of age or younger, parent intervention The minimum requirement to log-in to the school is three times a week.
The fee for the course must be paid in full at the time of registration. Students may cancel their registration no later than the end of the first week the start of classes. There will be a non-refundable $50.00 fee for cancellation. After that day, there will be no refunds for cancelled registrations.
Our Ontario Certified Teachers (OCT) are prepared to assist should you require additional tutoring support. Packages of 10 sessions can be purchased via your teacher. These sessions allow for one on one, on-demand support. For more information, please ask your teacher.
